‘Choosing Wisely’: Reducing Unnecessary Tests & Procedures

The American Board of Internal Medicine started a campaign called Choosing Wisely to help start conversations between doctors and patients in order to reduce unnecessary tests and procedures. The American Physical Therapy Association is one partner in this effort who has published a list of five things patients and physical therapists should question. It is not a black and white issue rather a list of treatments that need to deeply discussed to ensure the highest level of evidenced-based care. Please don’t hesitate to communicate with your therapist if any of the mentioned items are being used in your treatment.
