Vestibular Rehabilitation

A vestibular disorder involves the inner ear, an important system that controls balance. Disorders of the vestibular system can cause unsteadiness, dizziness and/or nausea. These symptoms are usually worse with movement. Physical therapists who have specialized training in the treatment of vestibular disorders can help alleviate these symptoms. The following conditions can benefit from vestibular rehabilitation:

  • Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)
  • Otolith Dysfunciton

What To Expect With A Vestibular Disorder Treatment?

Most patients will require from 2 to 6 visits, depending on the type of inner ear problem. This may take between 1-8 weeks to treat. Some vestibular patients may require further medical intervention.
