Vestibular Rehabilitation

A vestibular disorder involves the inner ear, an important system that controls balance. Disorders of the vestibular system can cause unsteadiness, dizziness and/or nausea. These symptoms are usually worse with movement. Physical therapists who have specialized training in the treatment of vestibular disorders can help alleviate these symptoms. Most patients will require from 2 to 6 visits, depending on the type of inner ear problem. This may take between 1-8 weeks to treat. Some vestibular patients may require further medical intervention.
