Free Events And Activities At Lake Fest

All of the Lake Fest events are made possible due to the support and sponsorships of local businesses and organizations. The majority of Lake Fest activities are offered to the community free of charge.  The Forest Lake area is fortunate to have such an active and involved Chamber of Commerce and local businesses that support community events. A few Lake Fest highlights include:

Friday, May 30, 2014, 5pm-LATE

Pack a picnic dinner, grab your camp chairs and bring the entire family down to Lakeside Park for an evening of fun. Browse the food items, crafts and gifts that are available for sale by the vendors participating in Arts in the Park.  The Rockin’ Hollywoods take the Gazebo stage starting at 6:30pm! Enjoy listening and dancing to the solid gold rock & roll hits from the 1950s through the 1980s.  The band wraps up their final set at 9:30pm, but the night’s not over yet! It’s time to break out the popcorn and settle in for “Monsters University”, a Disney movie that tells the story of the relationship between Mike and Sulley during their days at Monsters University — when they weren’t necessarily the best of friends. (All events held at Lakeside Park. Monsters University is sponsored by FLAS Community Education.)

Saturday, May 31, 2014, 10am-6pm

MusicArts in the Park returns to Lakeside Park from 10am-5pm for your second chance to browse the wonderful items local vendors have for sale.  FLAS Community Education is offering some fun activities for children of all ages – fun with bubbles, water themed activities and sports contests and drills will keep the kids moving!  The afternoon will be filled with performances by the FLAS Jazz Band, Dance Team Lil’ Dancers, and FLAS Talent Show participants. At 1pm, all eyes will turn towards the lake to watch the Bald Eagle Waterski Show performance and at 4pm the Elementary Schools’ Build-A-Boat Challenge boats will be launched!  Vote for your favorite to win the People’s Choice Award and earn a spot in the 4th of July Parade! If that wasn’t enough excitement for one day, stick around for the mini Pow Wow organized by the FLAS American Indian Education Program Parent Committee.  FLAS Native American student drummers, singers and dancers will be joined by John Oakgrove and the Little Thunderbirds. Come to learn, watch and participate in a mini Pow Wow that will engage people of all ages. (Build-A-Boat Challenge is sponsored by TEFFLA. Mini Pow Wow is sponsored by Grand Casino Hinckley. Little Dancers are sponsored by LeGrande BeautySpa & boutique.)
