Springtime is a great time to spring clean your health and reboot your overall wellness! Now that you’ve turned our clocks forward, it’s time to turn your focus onto your wellness and living a healthy lifestyle. No matter what is it that you want to focus on and improve, whether it’s exercising, clean eating, or spring cleaning, these are some tips to help make this your healthiest year yet!
Update or start your exercise plan
Now that the weather is warming up, we all have fewer excuses to increase our activity levels. If you’ve been working out through the winter, spring and summer will likely offer more options for activities that you can include in your routine. The more you mix it up, the less likely you’ll get bored of your exercise plan. So get out there, get moving and have fun!
Shop your local markets
Late spring and summer are prime for farmer’s markets, and fresh produce at your local stores. Shop local, eat fresh and “enjoy the fruits” of your local farmers and stores.
Schedule health screenings & appointments
If you haven’t already, you’ll want to make your annual health screenings and appointments. Annual check-ups are not something you should skip, so get those dates onto your calendar ASAP!
Declutter & organize your medicine cabinets
The winter months can take a toll on your health. From common cold medicines to antibiotics, we tend to stock up our medicine cabinets, and after a few months, those cabinets can look like a war zone. Take this time to go through and throw out any expired medications, loose pills, empty bottles and boxes, and any unused antibiotic medications.
Replace old workout shoes
Your running shoes have a lifetime of about 300 to 500 miles. However, it may be hard to know how long that transpires to if you’re not a runner that tracks mileage. So, if you can’t remember when you bought your shoes, if you know you’ve had your shoes through many workouts, or if you can feel that your shoes are offering less support than they used to it’s time to get a new pair.
If you’ve been hunkering down inside over the past couple of cold months, it’s time to get outside for a walk, bike ride, gardening, or just to sit and enjoy the warmer scenery. A little bit of sunshine can do wonders for the soul.
