Here’s The Story, Of A 3rd Year PT Student
Hello, all. My name is Anna Simonson, and I am a 3rd year PT student currently on my final internship at OSI in Somerset. OSI appealed to me right away as I was scanning various opportunities for outpatient orthopedic physical therapy clinical affiliations. Not only did I know that they housed clinicians with a plethora of specialties, but I knew that therapy at OSI was very manual-based, which I wanted to continue to excel at as I was nearing my transition into the professional world.
Beyond their excellence in specific and skilled PT, OSI has a mission, vision, and philosophy that mirrors my own. Their push toward better outcomes, high value and service for patients, and their focus toward providing professional and personal development for their employees are all qualities that I look for in a future employer.
My clinical thus far has been just as I had expected. Not only have I had the opportunity to be exposed to beyond entry-level PT including daily hand therapy cases, TMJ disorders, and infant therapy for torticollis, but I have also had the opportunity to work with personal trainers, athletic trainers, and to observe in specialty areas including orthopedic surgery, running evaluations, work conditioning programs, and athletic training at local high schools.
I was also given the opportunity to attend a running mechanics CE course that was sponsored by OSI.
Overall, my experience at OSI has met (if not exceeded) my expectations, and the staff here has welcomed me with open arms and have made my transition here easy. I look forward to my remaining weeks here!
