Joanie had a post op knee scope in February and developed a pretty significant hematoma in her thigh, causing severe pain and limiting her range of motion, strength and functional mobility (stairs, walking).
Her goals (aside from the obvious) were to be able to return to Yoga, and hike, kayak and be able to enjoy her trip to Croatia with her husband and daughter.
Her therapy regime consisted of, but not limited to; exercises for strength and range of motion improvements, CPM machine, ice, edema specific soft tissue work, Kinesio taping for swelling and bruising.
When she returned from her trip (mid May) she stated that she climbed over 1,000 steps, kayaked and walked the city in one day. She had to improvise with ice and use a cold bottle of iced tea, you couldn’t buy ice there.
She has also returned to her normal Yoga routine.
Dubrovnik, Croatia: Made It Up Thousands Of Steps Today
Made it up thousands of steps today…
Around the old city for a “Game of Thrones ” tour, then sea kayaked for 3 hours, then climbed the steps to walk the walls. I didn’t make it all the way around but over half before wine & seafood dinner, then walk around the marina and back to the apartment!
I could not have done it without you and Mike!! Thank you!!
Now ice & elevate;)
Joy in the journey,
– Joanie Delamater
