For dizziness, unsteadiness and vertigo

A vestibular disorder involves the inner ear, an important system that controls balance. Disorders of the vestibular system can cause unsteadiness, dizziness and/or nausea. These symptoms are usually worse with movement. Physical therapists who have specialized training in the treatment of vestibular disorders can help alleviate these symptoms.

What to Expect with OSI Vestibular Disorder Treatment

An OSI physical therapist will:

  • Perform a thorough evaluation involving a brief assessment of mobility and balance.
  • Develop a plan of care that includes treatment to alleviate or minimize the sensations of spinning.
  • Develop a personalized exercise program to help retrain the brain and equalize function of inner ear systems.

Most patients will require from 2 to 6 visits, depending on the type of inner ear problem. This may take between 1-8 weeks to treat. Some vestibular patients may require further medical intervention.
