Pea Soup Days 5k 2014 - Photo Gallery And Event Recap
On Thursday June 5th people from all around showed up to the Pea Soup Days 5k race
at the OSI Physical Therapy
/ Training Room
clinic in Somerset, WI. Some were participating and others were there to cheer on their friends or family. This is truly an awesome family event that brings in people from all around to shine a little light on the wonderful community of Somerset.
OSI Physical Therapy
, St Croix Orthopaedics
, and Westfield's hospital
put up booths with fun prizes, an 'ask a doc or PT' booth, greenscreen fun, and candy and info for all the visitors that stopped by to say hello.
Now I have to admit, I was a tad nervous when we first began setting up our booth. The wind was blowing badly and we had some rain as well. I wasn't sure if we'd even be able to set up shop outside in the parking lot. Quick shout out to Matt Hirn for chasing down all the brochures and flyers when the wind picked up. Eventually, the people began to arrive and the sun began to shine. It turned out to be excellent weather for the runners.
It didn't take long for the parking to fill up and the line to register got incredibly long. It was great seeing years of experience doing this pay of by processing all the people in quick, timely manner and having a lot of fun while doing it. I was really impressed with the efficiency of the team.
Working the booth was a lot of fun. We had great people from St Croix Orthopaedics and Westfield's there to work the crowd and it's safe to say we had a great time doing our job! Some of the PT's docs, and staff even got in front of the green screen (see pix below).

Every year we have seen the same person win the 5k race...his name is Jerrod. It's really quite remarkable watching him run this race at such an extraordinary pace. Hat's off to Jerrod for a job well done.
Of course after every great event comes a great celebration and the Pea Soup 5k delivers. We announced the winners of the race and awarded prizes, but also offered an awesome assortment of food for all the people coupled with a couple kegs of beer ice cold beer. The masses were happy.
It's safe to say the event was a smashing success. The only regret I have was my choice not to run the 5k. I wasn't quite ready for the race, but intend on running this next year with a goal of de-throning Jerrod. We'll need some t-shirts announcing that his reign has come to and end.
I'm not sure of the exact official count yet, but the word was we had 379 participants in the race this year. That's considered a great success for our team, who really put a ton of work into organizing this event. The credit for the success of this event goes out staff who volunteered, sponsors who donated, and of course to our event organizers Heather Larson
, Kim Korhonen
, Matt Hirn
, David Moulton, Jen Chapman
, and a special thanks to Colleen and Brenda for the behind the scenes help! We hope to see you all next year. Don't forget, you're welcome to stop by the Training Room and OSI in Somerset to see what types of trainers and programs we can offer you. It's time to get off the couch and take control of your life! #GetFit
