Fit Girl Fuel
I had the opportunity to chat with a former Henry Sibley
student athlete of mine, who is now off doing great things in college. Why I wanted to chat with her is because she has a very interesting series of health tips spanning from Instagram posts, to her website
What I caught interest in initially was her online Ebooks about healthy eating. I saw a couple of her recipes on her Instagram and I was very intrigued by her whole series of health tips. I thought to myself, if a college student can find time and ways to make easy and good tasting healthy food, I had no excuse not to. So I contacted Marie Wold and asked if she would share her story with me so I could share with you.
What I love about Marie is that she has a realistic account for people to follow. You can find countless unrealistic accounts on Instagram about fitness, that only show unrealistic model type of bodies. When you are a model or celebrity, it is your job to look good. Most people have things like, jobs and life that get in the way of being able to diet and exercise for the majority of the day. I think it is important for people to understand that yes it is possible to change your body for the better, but achieving model like figures is not going to happen in one month, and its not going to be easy.
This account is great because Marie talks about having bad days, or having self image issues once in a while, but with a positive heart, and a strong mind you can change that negative outlook in just days. On of my favorite quotes as a follower of hers on Instagram is "Not every day is going to be bright and positive, but bad days pass and better ones are ALWAYS ahead"
My name is Marie Wold, and I am a freshman at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota! At Hamline I am pursuing a double major in Marketing and International Business, as well as a minor in Spanish. On top of my academics, I am also a setter on the Hamline Volleyball team! I have played volleyball non-stop for 6 years now and I love being a student athlete!
Besides my education and volleyball, health and fitness are huge passions of mine! In October of 2012, I started a health and fitness "fitstagram" on the popular social media app, Instagram, under the username "fitgirlfuel". Since then, I have amassed nearly 40,000 followers! It still blows my mind that my followers could fill the Minneapolis Target Center twice over and still have a couple thousand to spare! The majority of my posts are pictures of my healthy meals, but I also post about my workouts, positivity, and finding balance in life-- I really strive to find a good balance between all aspects in my life! I believe that if you aren't happy, then you aren't healthy. You should never feel like a slave to your diet or the gym. If you find fun ways to be active, and healthy foods you enjoy, a healthy lifestyle will feel easy!
Since I began my "fitness journey", as many people call it, I have learned SO much about nutrition and I now understand the saying "most people have no idea how good their body is designed to feel". After adopting a healthier, more nutritious diet, I feel amazing! Not only did I lose weight, but I also have more energy, my skin is clearer, my hair shinier, and my confidence higher. It is amazing how every part of your life improves when you make a decision to treat your body right!
There is a common misconception that eating healthy is boring, or tastes gross, so in the summer of 2013 I wrote 2 healthy recipe e-books: "Fitgirlfuel's Savory Meals & Sides" and "Fitgirlfuel's Breakfast Favorites". My goal was to show people that nutritious food can be every bit as tasty and satisfying as unhealthy food. You don’t have to feel deprived, or like you’re missing out when healthy food also tastes amazing! Both e-books were huge successes, selling hundreds of copies to people all around the world. I plan to write another this summer titled "Fitgirlfuel's Healthy Meals Made Easy". After living in a dorm room for 9 months, I have created tons of recipes using very little time, space, and resources!
My healthy recipe e-books are available on my website: www.fitgirlfuel.com! All of the details about content, how to use it, etc. can also be found there. Each one has 40+ recipes all for only $10-- a wise investment in your health! You can also find me on Twitter at @fitgirlfuel.
