Beneficiary Organizations Of Our Pea Soup 5k/10k Race

We here at OSI/The Training Room in Somerset consider ourselves lucky to be a part of such a great community.  Our annual Pea Soup 5k/10k Race is coming this THURS June 4th and we would like to highlight one of the organizations that will benefit from YOUR participation in this year’s event.  Below is a letter about the Somerset Youth Basketball association:

April 8, 2015

To whom it may concern:

Please consider Somerset Youth Basketball to represent The Training Room during the 2015 Pea Soup Days 5K.  Over 40% of Somerset Elementary students are currently involved in Somerset Youth Basketball’s Shooting Stars Program, and the number of participants is rapidly growing each year.  The Shooting Stars Program offers a dynamic way for kids to have fun while encouraging physical fitness through weekend programs and “homework” skill building activities in which students can actually progress-monitor their own skill-development at home!  Participants are rewarded with incentives for recorded time involved in physical activity at home each week.  Best of all, kids get to show off their skills during halftime of Somerset’s Varsity home games, which promotes participant’s’ future interest in athletic programs.  Somerset Youth Basketball fights childhood obesity by promoting physical activity and teaching goal-setting, accountability, and providing a fun, engaging atmosphere that promotes future involvement in physical activity for nearly half of Somerset’s entire youth population; we would be honored to represent The Training Room during the 2015 Pea Soup Days 5K.

As we edge ever-closer to race day, we wanted to highlight another local organization that is benefitting from YOUR Pea Soup 5k/10k 2015 Race dollars.  A note from the Somerset Youth Baseball Association follows:

Somerset Youth Baseball Association would love for the Somerset Pea Soup days 5Kand 10K race to sponsor our organization. In doing so it would be helping out 26 teams within our youth baseball organization and benefit over 270 participants! We are excited to have great numbers again this year and are extremely happy that with this sponsorship we will be able to help offset some of the cost that goes into purchasing new equipment, jerseys, and all  other baseball expenditures throughout the year!

We are so pleased to be able to help out another great athletic club with your support!

And last but not least a long time partner of the Training Room!

Every year the Boy Scouts of America set up their trailer at our Pea Soup Race event in an effort to collect canned/non-perishable food and supplies for the local Somerset Food Pantry.  Please remember to grab an item or two to donate to the Boy Scout trailer and help out local families in need.  It can only make our community stronger!
