[Video] How To Tape For Elbow Hyperextension

How To Tape For Elbow Hyperextension

Elbow Hyperextension: Hyperextension happens when the elbow joint is bent backwards past it’s normal range of motion (ROM). When hyperextension happens the ligaments in the elbow become stretched out causing ROM to become painful. Below is a picture of the elbow and its supporting structures. The taping technique I do is an X over the elbow joint with flexed so it limits the amount of extension during play. Keeping the athlete out of extension will help allow the ligaments heal faster, since there is not a constant strain on them.

1. I usually tape with the Elasticon, but in the video I only had white athletic tape available to me.
