Health And Wellness Fair For Kids A Great Success

On September 20th was our First Annual Health and Wellness Event for Kids which we were able to host outside in the parking lot of OSI/The Training Room in Somerset! We had lots of fun activities for the kids and families who came to check it out. Power Up was there with Veggie Voting (broccoli versus green beans) as well as a dice rolling activity game, hula hoops and awesome health and wellness information for families. First National Bank attended the event with information about their Little Nesters Club, a great savings program for kids. Healthier Together was a part of our day with information on the St. Croix and Pierce County health initiatives. Girl Scouts of America were also in attendance with information about their successful club. In addition, the kids were able to work through six different “self-discipline” stations which helped them discover things like how long they could hold a plank, as well as how many push-ups and sit-ups they could do. The kids were able to assemble their own healthy snack as well as write down a healthy snack recipe to take with them. A recipe table contained different recipes to take home as well as a “recipe makeover” section in which an unhealthy kid’s favorite was transformed into a healthier, still tasty version. Our kid’s fitness class called Wiggle and Giggle got started at 11am with lots of fun, strong kids in attendance. Power Up’s mascot Chomp, First National Bank’s Hoot the Owl and our very own Peatey the Peapod did the fitness class with the kids which led to lots of laughs and entertainment for all in attendance. The kids were able to interact with the great mascots, get their face painted and have fun with their friends! Much appreciation goes out to all the community organizations as well as the kids and parents that came to be a part of this event. We are already looking forward to and planning for next year’s event! - Jen Free-1-on-1
