<p><strong>Thursday, July 14, 2011!</strong></p>
<p>The course will cover road, bike paths, and the Hardwood Creek Regional Trail. We are happy to offer electronic chip timing this year. All proceeds will go to benefit the Forest Lake Area Athletic Association (FLAAA).<br />
Registration will start at 6pm and the race will start at 7pm at the Forest Lake Sports Center.<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>OSI Physical Therapy is celebrating over 30 years of service, becoming a leading force in orthopedic rehabilitation, health and fitness and injury prevention.  With this as its core focus, we opened our doors in a small Stillwater, Minnesota building along side other medical professionals.</p>
<p>Growing quickly, we had to resort to leasing space across the parking lot in the back of  “The Broaster Hut,” a local chicken restaurant, to house our exercise facility.  Unfortunately, our patients had to walk the hundred feet or so, sometimes with crutches and walkers, to get there.  But they did so with smiles, simply knowing they were on their path to recovery.</p>
<p>From those humble beginnings 30 years ago, we’ve grown from that small office with the whirlpool in the lobby to eleven clinics and two fitness facilities in and around the Twin Cities metro area and western Wisconsin. Each serving their communities with a broad range of preventative, rehabilitative and consulting services. </p>
<p>Mike Ripley, OSI owner, is more than passionate about the breadth of resources we offer. “We are so grateful to the wonderful communities we serve, the physicians who support our practice and the literally hundreds of thousands of patients we have had the pleasure to treat over the years.  Helping keep people active and living the best they can, is more than just our mission.  It’s our promise.”</p>

Incorporating this activity into your daily routine will help lengthen tight muscles and prevent injuries. During the eight hour work day muscles can become tight and stiff, especially if your job entails sitting at a desk. Start your morning with these three easy stretching exercises!</p>
<p><strong>Morning Stretch #1</strong><br />
1) Lie flat on the floor<br />
2) Place your arms at your side<br />
3) Slowly raise your legs over you head<br />
4) Continue to raise your legs until your toes touch the floor behind your head<br />
5) Hold the position for 15 seconds<br />
6) Repeat 3 times</p>
<p><strong>Morning Stretch #2</strong><br />
1) Lie flat on your stomach<br />
2) Push up with both arms bending backwards<br />
3) Continue until your arms are straight<br />
4) Hold the position for 15 seconds<br />
5) Repeat 3 times</p>
<p><strong>Morning Stretch #3</strong><br />
1) Sit on the floor with your legs straight out in front of you<br />
2) Reach forward toward your toes<br />
3) Continue until a gentle stretch is felt behind your knees<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Middle-aged men and women with osteoarthritis of the knee now have more options than ever before for treatments that may allow them to remain active in the sports they love, according to a review published in the July 2010 issue of of the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (JAAOS).</p>
<p>&#8220;The number of patients between the ages of 40 and 60 who are experiencing knee arthritis is growing, and unlike most older patients, this patient population presents a unique set of treatment challenges,&#8221; noted lead author Brian Feeley, M.D., assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery, University of California, San Francisco. &#8220;Understanding available options and tailoring treatments to each patient&#8217;s needs and desires is the key to successful outcomes.&#8221;</p>
<p>The review examined both surgical and non-surgical treatments available for younger patients with knee arthritis, to determine the best course of action for patients who want to continue to participate in demanding sports. Unlike elderly patients, where pain reduction and basic mobility are the two primary goals, Dr. Feeley noted younger, more active patients require more flexible treatment programs to allow them to remain as active as they would like.</p>
<p>&#8220;There is an increasing trend in the United States of people who want to stay active in sports and recreational activities after the age of 40. These patients are not content with being told to stop what they love doing,&#8221; added Dr. Feeley. &#8220;As a result, orthopaedic surgeons and other physicians need to come up with different treatment strategies including non-operative treatments or even cartilage restoration procedures, to address pain and functionality, and to help keep patients as active as possible.&#8221;</p>
